MANDATE

Spearheads Vuka!´s initiative to create concerted civil society actions to address acute civic space issues

Services

Level A: Call for solidarity

Any ally can circulate a call to action on a thematic or country specific civic space issue.

Level B: Coordination call and or the creation of Vuka! coordination room

Any ally can request the Secretariat to host a coordination call on an emerging thematic or country specific civic space issue with Vuka! allies or the creation of a dedicated room on the Vika! Better Coordination Platform.

Level C: Vuka! - led or supported activities

An activity or issue which emerges from a coordination call which may warrant more robust intervention and resources may be shared whit relevant Vuka! Action Teams for support or resourcing.

Online counter narratives workshop

The Vuka! online counter narratives workshop methodology is designed by the Narratives Action leveraging Moblab´s Campaign Accelerator and incorporating feedback from various Action Teams. The goal of the online workshop is to support a network of national CSOs curate a focused approach to combating negative narratives on civil society and civic space.

MANDATE

1. Serve as a secure, shared platform to connect litigants and experts who are involved in litigation to protect civic space.

2. Foster active inter-regional discussion, exchange, and collaboration on strategies, best practices, and opportunities for strategic litigation to protect civic space.

3. Identify, collect, and share resources to facilitate and promote inter-regional collaboration and support on strategic litigation to protect civic space.

1. Share information about ongoing litigation on civic space issues or resources on litigation.

2. offer support trough letters, amicus curiae briefs to Vuka allies involve in strategic litigation for civic space.

3. he team has developed a mapping of emblematic cases of litigation for civic space to help identify important cases that they can support in various forms. The first phase of the mapping has been conducted in Latin America.

4. The team has developed a mapping of the capacities team members have to support Vuka! allies involved in litigation. The type of support offered includes amicus curiaes, legal research support, advocacy.

MANDATE

The thematic initiatives teams explore how and where civil society can coalesce around existing or emerging thematic civic space issues. In particular it seeks to mobilize Vuka! Allies around issues or groups that are underrepresented in the civic space discourse, where a knowledge gap or need has been expressed by Vuka! allies,  warrant greater collective attention or are otherwise at the vanguard.
